Nicolás Bastián Guerra Ruz

He had already worn the national colours at youth level, but the Panama match marked his arrival on the senior stage in style.

His path to that night ran through Cobreloa's youth ranks before Universidad de Chile picked him up in 2017. He made his professional debut for the club in the Copa Chile that July and signed his first contract as a professional that December. A loan to Ñublense in 2021 turned permanent the following year on a free transfer, and Guerra spent two seasons there before Universidad de Chile brought him back for the 2023 campaign, paying a fee in the region of €0.4 million to do so.

That second spell delivered the trophies. Guerra won the Copa Chile in 2024 and added the Supercopa de Chile in 2025. Across his career in Chilean football he built up a record of 56 goals in 255 appearances.

In January 2026, Guerra moved abroad for the first time, joining Instituto Atlético Central Córdoba in Argentina on a free transfer. He signed a two-year deal that includes a purchase option. He wears the number 7 shirt and operates as a right-footed forward, the same profile that has carried him from Maipú through two spells at Universidad de Chile and now into Argentine football.
