Ro-Zangelo Daal

Ro-Zangelo Daal is a product of AZ Alkmaar's academy, having joined the club's youth ranks in 2015 and worked his way up through every age group. He made his first senior appearance for Jong AZ in the Eerste Divisie in April 2022, and the club rewarded his progress with contract extensions in 2021, 2022 and again in 2024, tying him down for the long term. His breakthrough at academy level came with the Netherlands under-18 side, for whom he scored twice in three appearances in 2021, before later adding caps at under-21 level, including call-ups for European qualifiers.

Daal's promotion to the first team came in January 2025, a step that followed the UEFA Youth League title he had won with AZ's youth side in 2023. He has stayed with the club throughout, never having needed a transfer fee to move on.

The most eye-catching moment of his career to date came in the 2025–26 season, when he was part of the AZ Alkmaar squad that won both the KNVB Cup and the Johan Cruyff Shield. In the Super Cup final, AZ beat PSV Eindhoven 4-0, and Daal was among the scorers. He was also named man of the match in a fixture against Sparta Prague. The Eredivisie title eluded AZ that season, with PSV finishing as champions instead.

Daal withdrew from a Netherlands under-19 call-up in September 2022 without playing, and he has yet to earn a senior cap for the national team, his international career so far confined to the youth ranks.
