About the player
Stijn Spierings came through the AZ Alkmaar academy and made only two first-team appearances before Sparta Rotterdam took him on loan, a move that paid off when the club won the Eerste Divisie and returned to the Eredivisie. He stayed on permanently and settled into regular football, playing 47 league matches for Sparta before his contract was mutually terminated in January 2019. RKC Waalwijk picked him up, and he helped that club to promotion as well.
Toulouse FC brought him to France, where he had his most productive spell: 98 league appearances, a Ligue 2 title in 2021–22, and a Coupe de France in 2022–23. RC Lens signed him on a free transfer in 2023, but he made just four appearances before being sent back to Toulouse on loan for the season. Brøndby IF then took him to Denmark, where he played 29 league matches.
Real Salt Lake announced his signing from Brøndby in January 2026. Spierings represented the Netherlands at every youth level up to U20 but has not been capped by the senior national side.
