«Giants»
The team they came for, entered into the American Professional Football Association on 2 October 1921, took its name from the colour of its jerseys rather than any city or state — the Crimson Giants remain the only club ever to carry "Crimson" in its official NFL name, there having been no crest or emblem to speak of, only the shirt itself in crimson and white.
That first season held up: three wins and two losses in league play placed Evansville sixth among the twenty-one teams that made up the APFA, and a fuller ledger including games outside the league read seven wins, two losses and a draw. The following year gave no such comfort. Money was short and the front office in worse shape than the roster, and the club played out its remaining fixtures on the road rather than at Bosse Field — three games, all away, all lost.
No championship followed either season, and none was ever likely to. The 1922 defeats were the last anyone saw of the Crimson Giants; the franchise did not return for a third year. Three games, three losses, and the record closed for good.
