Gamle Oslo

Promotion has come three times for Gamle Oslo, and each one arrived on schedule: out of the 6. divisjon in 2018, the year after founding, then the 5. divisjon in 2019, then the 4. divisjon in 2023. A run to the first round of the Norwegian Football Cup in 2022.

It began in 2017 not as a youth side finding its feet but as a project built by people who had already played the game. Adam Larsen Kwarasey, a former Vålerenga goalkeeper capped for Ghana, David Driscoll and Kelepha Sarr set it up together with Andreas Holzweiler, and the club took over the league licence of the defunct Hammersborg FK to get started. Kwarasey stayed on as manager.

Officially the club is Gamle Oslo Fotballklubb, but almost nobody calls it that: branding runs under FC Oslo, and the fashion label Holzweiler, founded by the same Andreas Holzweiler, sponsors the shirt. Home games are played at Bjølsen kunstgress, a ground that holds 1,000, with Bryn kunstgress used as a backup pitch. There is no fixed rival — matches against Lyn, Skeid, Frigg and Ullern are simply what the Oslo football calendar gives them.
