New Caledonia U20 Women

In 2015, in their first appearance in a proper competition, New Caledonia's under-20 women lost 26–0 to New Zealand at the OFC U-20 Women's Championship, a scoreline that sat alongside a 6–2 defeat to Samoa in the same tournament. Ten years later, at the 2025 OFC U-19 Women's Championship, the same fixture came round again — New Zealand once more, this time in a final, and again a defeat, 3–0.

That final still changed everything. Finishing runners-up sent New Caledonia into the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Poland, the first time any New Caledonian women's team had reached a FIFA tournament. Group F there pairs them with Spain, China PR and Nigeria.

The players go by Les Filles Cagous , named for the flightless bird found only on the island. Goalkeeper Elisabeth Aben took the Golden Glove out of the 2025 tournament, and forwards Julia Honakoko and Kane Dralu were among the scorers. Léon Waitronyie leads the team as head coach.

Home games are played at the Stade Numa-Daly Magenta in Nouméa, which holds 10,000.
