«Pride»
Two names recur when Widener's football history comes up, and neither is a rival in the usual sense: Geneva and FDU-Florham, opponents met often enough over the decades.
The program traces back to 1879, when the school was still the Pennsylvania Military Academy, decades before it became Widener. National titles came in 1977 and 1981, the first a 39–36 win over Wabash College, the second a 17–10 defeat of Dayton, and both seasons also delivered the conference championship.
Mike Barainyak has held the head coaching job since 2019, working out of Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium as the Pride look to add to a MAC championship count no other program in the league can match.
