Boswell Field at David J. Urick Stadium

Geneva, United States

Formerly: Boswell Field

Boswell Field at David J. Urick Stadium The facility belongs to the Hobart and William Smith Colleges, serving as the home ground for their athletic teams. The venue’s identity has shifted over the decades, moving from its original location in the 1920s to this current site, which is now named after David J. Urick, the legendary Hobart College lacrosse coach who led his team to ten consecutive NCAA Division III championships in the 1980s.

The ground today is defined by its 2010 renovation, part of the Caird Center for Sports and Recreation project. That work replaced the natural grass with an 86,000-square-foot FieldTurf artificial surface. The renovation also brought state-of-the-art "green" stadium flood lighting for night games and a new grandstand with seating for over 3,000 spectators. A two-level press box and a new high-tech scoreboard sit above the stands, while a sports medicine suite and team rooms with oak lockers provide the necessary infrastructure for the athletes.

In the summer of 2023, the turf and track received another renovation. The ground hosts various collegiate athletic championships, including NCAA Division III playoff contests for football, lacrosse, and soccer. It has also hosted the NYSPHSAA Boys Lacrosse State Championships, such as the Class B title game in June 2025 where Garden City defeated Canandaigua 14-5.

The venue goes beyond just sport. It serves as a location for community events, including 9/11 memorial services, such as one held on September 11, 2021, honoring first responders. The official address is 283 Hamilton St., Geneva, NY. The official athletics website is https://hwsathletics.com.
