Kenneth R. Gill Stadium
Westminster, United States
Formerly: Scott Bair Stadium, Hoffa Field
While the grandstands hold a fixed seated capacity of 1,434, the atmosphere is defined by the cars parked directly on the artificial turf and in the surrounding areas. This tailgating tradition, which dates back to the 1920s, allows the total attendance to reach figures that would exceed the capacity of most professional stadiums.
The stadium sits on a site with a layered history, having previously been known as Hoffa Field before the Scott Bair Stadium structure was erected. The current facility opened in 2012, replacing the older stadium, and was funded largely through donations, with alumnus Kenneth R. Gill contributing $2.25 million of the total $8 million construction cost. The playing surface is synthetic, used for football, field hockey, lacrosse, and track and field. The football pitch itself is named Rembert Field, dedicated in 2019 to honour alumni Donald and Judith Rembert.
The venue serves as the home for the McDaniel College Green Terror athletic teams. The primary rivalry is an annual contest against the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays, a relationship that dates back to 1894. Attendance sometimes reported as high as 8,750, though the exact figure for any single match is not definitively linked in the sources. The tailgating tradition has earned the team recognition, including a sixth place ranking by The Weather Channel in 2011 for the best tailgating in college football. The stadium is located in Westminster, Maryland, United States.
