About

The Czech Basketball Cup is the premier national knockout competition for men's basketball in the Czech Republic. Organized by the Czech Basketball Federation (ČBF), the tournament was established in 1993 following the dissolution of Czechoslovakia. Unlike the National Basketball League (NBL), which determines the champion through a round-robin regular season and playoffs, this cup operates as a standalone knockout event with no promotion or relegation implications for domestic leagues.

The format has evolved over time but currently culminates in a "Final Four" tournament. The path to the final involves preliminary rounds for lower-division teams, a Round of 16, and Quarterfinals. The four remaining teams compete in semi-finals and a final at a neutral venue, often branded with a sponsor's name. This structure rewards knockout performance rather than consistent league standing and serves as a potential qualification route for European competitions like the FIBA Europe Cup.

ERA Basketball Nymburk holds the record with 18 titles. This dominance includes a streak of 11 consecutive wins from 2004 to 2014 and four consecutive titles from 2017 to 2021. Other notable winners include BK Opava, which has secured six titles, and Unibon Nový Jičín, which has won five. JIP Pardubice claimed the inaugural edition in the 1993–94 season.

The most recent completed season's Final Four took place in Louny in March 2024. BK Opava defeated ERA Nymburk in that contest. ERA Nymburk went on to win the 2024–25 season. The competition remains distinct from the regular league, offering a different competitive pathway for clubs such as Srsni Pisek, NH Ostrava, SP Basket, BC Kolín, USK Praha, and Olomoucko.
