The Super Ligi is the premier professional men's basketball competition in Turkey. It stands as the highest level of the sport within the country, operating under the authority of the Turkish Basketball Federation. The league differentiates itself from other European competitions through its specific roster regulations, notably the "4+1" system which mandates at least one Turkish passport holder on the court at all times. This rule forces clubs to manage dual roster structures compared to leagues like the EuroLeague, which lack such restrictions.
The competition structure relies on a regular season followed by a playoff phase. Teams compete in a double round-robin format, playing each opponent twice. The top eight sides from this stage advance to the postseason. The playoff format utilizes best-of-3 series for the quarterfinals, while both the semifinals and finals employ best-of-5 series. The two teams finishing lowest in the regular season table are relegated to the Turkish Basketball First League (TBL). Conversely, the top two teams from the TBL earn promotion to the Super Ligi.
Historical dominance in the modern era belongs to Anadolu Efes, who hold the record for titles since the league's inception in 1966. Fenerbahçe Beko is the reigning champion, having secured victories in recent seasons. The league operates concurrently with the Turkish Cup and the EuroLeague for participating clubs. Qualification for the EuroLeague is based on a mix of licensed club status and wild cards rather than automatic entry for the domestic champion. The competition lacks a publicly defined salary cap, a factor that contributes to financial disparities between the larger and smaller clubs.
