Bordo Bandirma

The fixture Bordo is measured by is the Balıkesir Derby, against Balıkesir Büyükşehir Belediyespor. Both clubs come from the same province.

That claim carried weight because of what happened in 2020, when the former Bandırma club, known as Banvit and later Teksüt Bandırma, dissolved under financial difficulties. Bordo was set up in 2023 by Bordo Sportif A.Ş., with Onur Göçmez as chairman and Özgür Kızıllar as club president. It is a separate legal entity with no continuity to its predecessor. It started with borrowed status: it bought the competition rights of Rino Seramik, an Ankara side, and entered the Türkiye Basketbol 2. Ligi. It finished third in its group and went out in the playoffs to Ege Üniversitesi Daçka.

A second purchase, of the rights held by Iğdır Basketbol, brought a place in the second tier for 2024–25. That season ended in 10th place and an 80–82 defeat in the play-in.

The next year went differently. Bordo won the Türkiye Basketbol Ligi in 2026, beating Gaziantep Basketbol 3–0 in the playoff final. That earned promotion to the Basketbol Süper Ligi, the top flight, for the first time. The Ege Cup came the same year. Home games are played in the 2,000-seat hall of Bandırma 17 Eylül University, which the club filled through the promotion run. Bordo then added Tye Gordon, Alex Perez and Berk Demir, and signed Boubacar Toure from Tofaş.

Semih Soğuksu was head coach for both seasons after the play-in defeat. He took the side from 10th in the table to the title, and it is his name the promotion is most often attached to.
