About

The P. LEAGUE+ operates as a professional basketball competition within Taiwan, structured as a closed franchise system that does not feature promotion or relegation.

Established in 2020, the league functions alongside the T1 League, which ceased operations in 2024, making the P. LEAGUE+ the sole remaining top-tier professional entity in the country. It participates in the East Asia Super League, allowing its teams to compete internationally. The current roster includes four clubs: the Taipei Fubon Braves, Taoyuan Pauian Pilots, Tainan TSG GhostHawks, and Yankey Ark.

Competition follows a standard season format comprising a 40-game round-robin regular season, with each team playing 20 home and 20 away fixtures. The four highest-placed teams progress to a best-of-7 playoff series to determine the champion. The Taipei Fubon Braves hold the record for consecutive titles, winning three straight championships from 2020–21 through 2022–23. The Taoyuan Pauian Pilots are the current defending champions, having secured back-to-back titles in the 2024–25 and 2025–26 campaigns.

The league maintains its name without a title sponsor, distinguishing it from many other commercial ventures, although individual teams have adopted sponsor-driven rebranding, such as the Pilots becoming the Pauian Pilots. A significant historical event occurred in 2024 when an attempted merger with the rival T1 League collapsed. This failure led to the formation of a new league, the Taiwan Professional Basketball League, while the P. LEAGUE+ retained its core four teams.

The league’s founding structure differs from its predecessor’s model, having been initiated by media figure Chen Chien-Chou rather than former NBA executive Kuan Kuang-Chung. Chen served as CEO until stepping down in 2023. The league operates under Taiwan Professional Basketball Development Co., Ltd., ensuring stability through its franchise-based entry system where teams join via application and approval.
