LNB (Dominican Republic) 2025/26

The **Liga Nacional de Baloncesto (LNB)** stands as the premier professional basketball competition in the Dominican Republic. Formerly known as the Liga Dominicana de Baloncesto (LIDOBA), the league underwent a significant rebranding in May 2010 after years of financial instability, including the cancellation of the 2009 season. It operates under the auspices of the **Federación Dominicana de Baloncesto (FEDOMBAL)** and functions as a closed franchise system with no promotion or relegation.

The competition features eight teams competing in a single round-robin regular season. The structure rewards consistency, with the top six clubs advancing to an elimination phase known as the *Fase de Eliminación*. This stage identifies the four finalists for the semifinals, which are contested over a best-of-5 series. The championship is decided in a best-of-7 final.

**Metros de Santiago** holds the record for success within the league, having claimed five titles. The most recent champion is the **Gigantes de San Francisco de Macorís**, who secured the title in the 2026 season by defeating Metros de Santiago in the final series. Individual achievements are also tracked, with Adris de León holding the game scoring record at 54 points and Jack Michael Martínez recording 27 rebounds in a single match.

The LNB serves as the primary pathway for Dominican teams to qualify for international competitions, specifically the **Basketball Champions League Americas**. It remains distinct from the Liga de Verano and the Liga de Desarrollo U-22, maintaining its role as the sole professional senior-level tournament in the country.
