TBL (Turkey) 2026/27

The Basketbol Süper Ligi stands as the premier professional basketball competition in Turkey. While the acronym TBL was once used for the top flight, it now designates the second tier, creating a clear hierarchy within the Turkish basketball structure. This distinction ensures that the BSL remains the sole top-flight professional entity, while the TBL serves as the feeder division for the national game.

The league operates on a double round-robin format during the regular season, where each club faces every opponent twice. This structure results in a thirty-game schedule for all participants. Performance in these regular matches determines progression, with the top six teams securing automatic places in the postseason. Teams finishing between seventh and tenth enter a play-in tournament to contest the final two playoff positions. The knockout phase features best-of-three quarterfinals, best-of-five semifinals, and a decisive best-of-seven final to crown the champion.

Relegation and promotion link the top two tiers directly. The two lowest-placed teams in the BSL are demoted to the TBL, while the leading two sides from the second division earn promotion to the elite level. This movement maintains competitive balance across the country. Previous seasons have seen clubs like Anadolu Efes achieve a perfect thirty-game regular season, highlighting the intensity required at this level. The league is governed by the Turkish Basketball Federation, which oversees both divisions and ensures the integrity of the national game.
