The name carries the General Directorate of Forestry, the ministry body the club represents, and green and white have stayed the colours since.
The men's side spent decades outside the top flight before the 2018–19 season, when it won the Turkish Basketball Second League, beat Sigortam.Net İTÜ BB in the final and went up to the Basketbol Süper Ligi for the first time. The women's team had already made its mark two years earlier, taking both the Turkish Women's Basketball League and the Federation Cup in 2016–17, then adding the Özgecan tournament in 2018.
Home games sit at the M. Sait Zarifoğlu Spor Salonu in Söğütözü, a hall of 2,000.
