Salamanca UDS booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Federation Cup with a 5-3 victory over Derrío in the Round of 16 on 16 September 2026. The visitors were ruthless in front of goal, taking the lead through three penalties and adding two more goals to see off a determined home side.
And here's the thing — Derrío started brighter. A. Vicandi fired them into an early lead in the fourteenth minute before A. Caramelo equalised three minutes later. Salamanca took control after that, with G. Carreras Arino scoring in the thirtieth and Caramelo adding a penalty just before half-time.
By then the pattern was clear. Carreras Arino converted another penalty on forty-five minutes and, after missing one in the sixty-third, grabbed a fourth from the spot later in the half. Derrío could only watch as they fell further behind, with the visitors extending their advantage to five goals before the break.
The second half brought drama rather than hope. Ander pulled one back in the one hundred and fourteenth minute, but it made little difference. Two red cards for Derrío — L. Santos and U. Boada both sent off in the one hundred and nineteenth — left the hosts with nothing to play for.
Still, L. Opara added a consolation goal in the one hundred and twentieth minute. Salamanca had been out of sight by then, but the result tells you everything about a night when the away side showed no mercy and Derrío simply could not hold them.
