Matagalpa — Managua FC, Primera Division

Managua secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Mataragalpa in the Apertura fourth round of the Primera División on Sunday. The visitors took all three points with goals from D. Diaz, N. Gomez and B. Morgan, leaving the hosts rooted to seventh place.

The opening exchanges told the story before most spectators had settled. Diaz found the net in the thirteenth minute, and Gomez doubled the advantage three minutes later. By then, Mataragalpa were already chasing shadows. And here's the thing — teams rarely recover from a double deficit so early in the second half.

Managua controlled the tempo without needing to raise their intensity. The statistics back up what was visible on the pitch: 52 per cent possession, seven shots on target to two. The hosts managed 105 attacks but produced only two efforts on goal. To be fair, Mataragalpa struggled to create anything meaningful.

The third goal arrived in the eighty-fifth minute through Morgan, putting a full period of football between the final strike and the whistle. Managua registered 88 attacks and nine corners compared to their opponents' six. The visitors kept their clean sheet and extended their unbeaten run to eight matches.

The result moves Managua further clear at the top of the table with twenty-two points from eight games. Mataragalpa remain on nine points after nine fixtures, with six defeats and no draws to show. The gap between the two sides now stands at thirteen points.
