Managua FC

Managua's football map used to belong to older names; the capital's city council decided in 2006 that it wanted a side of its own. Its president, Denis Salinas, holds office both in the city council and in the Nicaraguan football federation.

Promotion came through the play-offs in 2009–10, and the Blue Lions have stayed in the Primera División since.

Emilio Aburto led the club to its first championship. In the 2018 Apertura his team beat Real Estelí FC 1–0 on aggregate in the final — the first championship in the club's history. A year later he added the inaugural Copa de Nicaragua. Real Estelí were beaten again in the 2025 Clausura final.

Lucas dos Santos, a Brazilian striker, scored 100 goals for the club. Erling Méndez has kept goal here since 2006 and has played for nobody else.
