The guard says he passed on a $50M Kings offer for $40M with the Clippers, citing his role in their historic 2021 conference finals run.

Patrick Beverley explained that he chose to remain with the Clippers over a larger offer from the Kings.

"I signed a three-year, $40 million contract with them. I turned down a three-year, $50 million deal with Sacramento just to stay with the Clippers," Beverley said.

He linked the decision to his part in the club's history rather than the money left on the table.

"I was part of that starting five that for the first time in franchise history helped the Clippers reach the Western Conference finals... They had plenty of point guards who never managed to help the team get past that barrier. But I was part of the starting five that finally got the Clippers to a conference finals for the first time. And they haven't been back since," Beverley said.
