Unics Kazan Sign David McCormack as Delgado Cover
Unics moved fast to replace injured centre Angel Delgado, signing American big man David McCormack from Bayern Munich for the 2026/27 season.
Unics Kazan have signed centre David McCormack as cover for Angel Delgado, who was ruled out after picking up a leg injury on international duty with the Dominican Republic.
Club president Evgeni Bogachev said the search for a replacement ran round the clock.
McCormack, 27, has signed for the 2026/27 season. Last season with Bayern Munich he averaged 7.5 points and 4.8 rebounds in 16 minutes across 28 Bundesliga games, and 6.9 points with 3.2 rebounds in 15.5 minutes over 28 Euroleague matches. He has previously played for Besiktas, Darussafaka and Galatasaray in Turkey, for Milan in Italy and for Alba Berlin.
Unics play their home fixtures at the 7,000-seat Basket-Hall in Kazan and sit second in the VTB United League. The move confirms the club's plan set out on 8 September, when it released Delgado and moved to bring in McCormack as his replacement.
The signing comes days after Unics lost the pre-season Kondrashin and Belov Cup final to MBA, whose head coach, Sergei Voznyuk, played down suggestions the win pointed to a Top-6 finish for his side.
