Celtics Refuse to Trade Derrick White
Rival teams called Boston after the Jaylen Brown deal hoping to get Derrick White at a discount, but the Celtics shut down every offer.
Boston did not entertain a single offer for Derrick White after sending Jaylen Brown to Philadelphia, Heavy Sports' Sean Deveney reports.
The Celtics fielded a flood of calls once the Brown trade went through, according to Deveney, with rival teams testing whether White's price had dropped. The club listened, then made clear it was not moving him.
"The player everyone was going to fight for, and everyone had their eye on, was Derrick White — because of his contract, and a season that wasn't his best, and maybe teams figured they could get him for a bit less. They didn't even consider anything like that. He's very popular with the players on the team, and with the front office," a Western Conference club executive said.
The Brown deal has not turned into a wider sell-off.
