Steve Ballmer Drops Legal Fight, Apologises to Clippers Fans

Steve Ballmer has dropped his legal challenge against the NBA's punishment over a salary-cap circumvention case tied to Kawhi Leonard, and has apologised to Clippers fans and staff.

"This was a very difficult period for everyone connected with the Clippers, and I sincerely regret it. I want to apologise to our fans, our staff and my fellow NBA owners for the strain and concern this situation caused. As the club's controlling owner, I take responsibility. We intend to put this chapter behind us. We have told the NBA that we accept the league's sanctions, we have paid the fine and we are moving forward. Although we still disagree with some of the findings in the report, I do not want to dwell on that. Owners should support the league, not distract from it. The challenges ahead are serious, but our resolve is just as strong. We will keep building the team and investing in our community. Our fans' trust is our top priority. Given the talent on this roster, a strong coaching staff and a clear vision for the future, I am confident we will compete at the highest level and become an organisation our fans can be proud of," Ballmer wrote on social media.
