Glen Davis: NBA Cast Aside Isaiah Thomas Over Analytics

Glen Davis has singled out Isaiah Thomas as the clearest example of how ruthless team-building has become in the NBA, pointing to a front office culture built almost entirely on analytics.

"The NBA does an amazing job with analytics, and they use them aggressively. Once you stop fitting their numbers, you're no longer useful to them. Just look at Isaiah. The guy put together an outstanding season, played brilliantly, and now he can't hold a spot on any roster, drifting from club to club. It's madness. He's fighting just to stay in the league. I remember watching his documentary or something like that. It was so sad. But at the same time, you have to take basketball for what it is: you take those blows and move on. He's one of those guys for whom basketball itself matters, not the stat sheet. But some clubs and organisations couldn't care less about that," said Davis.
