Montrez Harrell Blasts Washington's Roster
The former NBA forward says Washington's roster makeup makes no sense, citing overlapping frontcourt pieces and a thin bench behind the starters.
Montrez Harrell has taken aim at Atlanta's roster construction, saying he cannot make sense of the pieces the club has put together.
"To be honest, I don't understand what Atlanta is doing at all. It doesn't make sense. They drafted young AJ Dybantsa, but he plays small forward. At the same time, they signed Deandre Ayton, even though they'd already drafted young Alex Sarr. There's Anthony Davis, and on the bench there's another centre — Tristan Vukcevic. Right now the only player who can spell Anthony Davis is Anthony Gill. And Trae Young doesn't have a proper second option. All of this looks like a catastrophe. Their starting five is Trae Young, Khris Middleton, AJ Dybantsa, Anthony Davis and Deandre Ayton. But look at the bench, and teams can play against them off the back of that every single night. The coach is going to have to work very hard with this roster. There's a lot of uncertainty in Atlanta right now. I don't think they'll be seriously fighting for a high seed in the East. They might sneak into the play-in, but I don't see them as a contender for anything serious in the conference. I just don't understand what this team's identity is," Harrell told Brandon Robinson.
