Dwight Powell re-signs with Dallas Mavericks
The 35-year-old big man returns on a non-guaranteed deal after 12 seasons with Dallas, which must now clear him a roster spot at camp.
Dallas have re-signed Dwight Powell, and the Mavericks now have to find him a spot on the roster.
The deal is understood to be non-guaranteed. Powell, 35, has spent all 12 of his NBA seasons in Dallas. Last year he averaged 3.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 14.3 minutes across 63 games.
The Mavericks already have 15 players on the roster. Insider Marc Stein has reported that the club will try to work out a place for the big man regardless. By all accounts, Powell is the only player at camp currently sitting outside the projected roster for the season.
If Dallas do carve out a spot, it would extend a run in the same shirt that already stretches back over a decade — a rare thing for a player on a non-guaranteed deal at this stage of his career.
