RJ Barrett, Raptors yet to discuss contract extension
With one season left on his deal, Barrett is eligible for a four-year, $185.7m extension but says he's letting his agent handle the talks.
Toronto and RJ Barrett have not yet opened serious talks over a contract extension, Sportsnet reports.
Barrett is entering the final season of his current deal. He is due $29.6m in 2026/27 and is eligible for a four-year extension worth up to $185.7m. The 26-year-old guard said he is leaving the negotiations to his representatives for now.
"I think, first of all, players often stress too much about these things. First of all, I'm going to get a lot of money this year regardless, so I have to be grateful for that. And I also have a good agent, so I just let him do his job. What happens, happens," Barrett said.
