Diego Alejandro Sosa

Diego Alejandro Sosa arrived at Instituto on a free transfer at the end of December 2025, after his contract with Tigre had expired, and signed through the end of 2026 with the club holding an option to buy 80 per cent of his rights. He now wears the number 3 shirt as a left-back at Instituto Atlético Central Córdoba.

Sosa is a product of Tigre's academy, where he made his senior debut in the 2016–2017 season and went on to make well over ninety league appearances across several stints between 2016 and 2025. He won the Primera B Nacional with Tigre in 2021 and played in the Copa Libertadores in 2020.

His career also included spells away from Tigre on loan. He spent the 2017–2018 season in Chile with Unión Española, then moved to Uruguay in 2023 to join Racing Club in Montevideo, where he made 34 league appearances and scored once. A further loan took him to Peñarol in 2024, and that stretch proved his most decorated: alongside 19 to 21 league appearances and a goal, he won the Uruguayan Primera División by taking both the Torneo Apertura and the Torneo Clausura.

Sosa has yet to earn a senior cap for Argentina, though the national set-up is not unfamiliar to him — he was called up to the Argentina under-20 squad for training camps in March 2017 ahead of that year's FIFA U-20 World Cup.
