Davy Roef

Davy Roef made his way to Anderlecht's academy in 2012 after coming through the youth ranks at KFCO Beerschot Wilrijk and Beerschot AC, and signed his first professional contract with the club that same year. He needed a loan spell at Waasland-Beveren, running from August 2017 to June 2019, to get consistent league minutes, making 60 appearances there. The move came with a €260,000 loan fee and a €750,000 purchase option that Waasland-Beveren chose not to take up, and he went back to Anderlecht. Before that, in January 2017, he had a brief loan at Deportivo La Coruña, where he played once, in a 3–0 win over UD Las Palmas.

His return to Anderlecht for the 2019–20 season did not bring league appearances, and in July 2020 he left on a free transfer to Gent. It was there that his career found its clearest high point. In the 2021–22 season, Roef started in goal as Gent won the Belgian Cup, and in the final against Sint-Truiden he saved two penalty kicks, a performance that stands as the defining moment of his time at the club. He has gone on to make more than 124 league appearances for Gent.

Roef has represented Belgium at various youth levels, with caps for the under-16, under-19 and under-21 sides, but has not been capped by the senior national team.
