Erick Paul Gonzáles Aponte

Erick Paul Gonzáles Aponte has made a career out of moving on.

He started out at CD Defensor San Alejandro before a gap in his senior career, resurfacing at Deportivo Coopsol in the Segunda División. Cusco FC gave him his best-remembered moment: a goal that settled a match 1-0 against Club Victoriano in Liga 1. Spells at Academia Cantolao and Carlos A. Mannucci followed in quick succession, then a season at Deportivo Garcilaso that took him onto a continental stage, playing the full 90 minutes against Lanús in the Copa Sudamericana, though the run there ended without a trophy.

None of those clubs have delivered him a major title, and his name carries no individual award or national-team recognition — he has never been capped by Peru at senior level. What stands out instead is the shape of the career itself: a right-footed midfielder built at 190cm, passed from club to club on free deals, picking up occasional moments — a decisive goal here, a Sudamericana appearance there — without ever quite anchoring himself. At Sport Boys, under contract into the end of 2026, he now has the longest runway he has had in years to change that pattern.
