About the player
Ilya Rubtsov came up through Spartak Moscow's academy before moving on to Lokomotiv Moscow's youth system. At Sakhalinets, in the 2022/23 season, he finished as the club's top scorer and was named the best player and top scorer of his group in the Second League B.
A free transfer took him to Shinnik Yaroslavl in the First League in July 2023, making 11 appearances and scoring two goals across the season. He joined Spartak Kostroma on loan from Shinnik in July 2024. It was there, in the Second League A, that Rubtsov produced his best football: he finished as the team's top scorer with 12 goals and played a key part as the club won the Second League A championship.
In the 2026/27 season he has featured for Spartak Kostroma in the First League, making five appearances, and added one appearance in the Russian Cup, where he scored.
