Jeremy Ebobisse

Jeremy Ebobisse started out at Bethesda SC in the Washington, D.C. area, playing alongside Gedion Zelalem, before an unbeaten freshman season and a state final appearance at Walter Johnson High School. Two seasons at Duke University brought nine goals in 37 appearances, enough for him to leave early for the professional game. His rights passed from D.C. United U-23 and a loan at Charleston Battery to the Portland Timbers, who took him fourth overall in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft after trading an international slot, $100,000 in allocation money and a further draft pick to get him. He went on to make 88 appearances for Portland, scoring 26 goals, and started the 2018 MLS Cup final, a 2-0 defeat to Atlanta United. Two years later he was central to Portland's run to the 2020 MLS is Back Tournament title, setting up the winning goal in the final against Orlando City after scoring in the semi-final, and later tied the club's consecutive-appearances record at 72.

A trade to San Jose Earthquakes in 2021, worth $1 million in allocation money, followed his own request to play through the middle rather than out wide. He suffered a concussion that September that kept him out for six weeks, and has since spoken openly about his struggles with concussions and now wears a Q-Collar. He answered it with a breakout campaign in 2022, scoring 17 goals from 34 starts and reaching the final shortlist for MLS Comeback Player of the Year, then followed it with a Team of the Matchday selection and a spectacular headed goal against Toronto FC in 2023.

He signed for Los Angeles FC as a free agent in December 2024, opening his account there with a strike from outside the box in the 2025 season opener. Ebobisse also won the CONCACAF U-20 Championship with the United States and started in a 3-0 friendly win over Panama on his senior debut, without adding further caps since.
