About the player
Juan Manuel Villalba came through the youth ranks at El Libertador before joining Vélez Sarsfield, where he signed his first professional contract but never made a senior appearance for the club. His path to first-team football opened up only after he left, joining Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata on a free transfer in January 2025. There, on 15 March 2025, against Rosario Central, he made his professional debut. He went on to make five appearances for Gimnasia that year.
A further free transfer took him to Tigre in January 2026, on a contract running to the end of 2027. Since arriving, the left-footed defender has established himself as a regular option, featuring in eight league matches and three Copa Sudamericana games for the club.
