Leonardo Matías Heredia

Leonardo Heredia arrived at Platense in January 2026 on loan from Argentinos Juniors. Born in Lomas del Mirador, the attacking midfielder made his senior debut at Almirante Brown in 2014 and spent three seasons there before his rights were sold to the Uruguayan club Boston River in 2017.

His move to Atlético Tucumán in 2019, first on loan and then on a permanent deal from 2020, became the longest and most productive spell of his career. Across parts of five seasons he made 72 appearances and scored 13 goals, and he was part of the squad that qualified for the Copa Libertadores in 2020. From there his career turned into a string of loans: to Estudiantes de La Plata in 2022, then to Argentinos Juniors from 2023, where he signed permanently in January 2024.

A further loan to Central Córdoba de Santiago del Estero in 2025 produced his most eye-catching moment on the continental stage: he scored a penalty against Flamengo in the Copa Libertadores, part of a productive run in which he found the net eight times in 43 appearances. Heredia has never been capped by Argentina at any level, and he has not collected any major team honours so far. His value to his clubs has instead been built match by match, on a consistent scoring record from midfield rather than on trophies or recognition.
