About the player
Percy Liza came through Sporting Cristal's academy at La Florida and made his professional debut in April 2019 at the age of 18, becoming one of the youngest homegrown players to break into the Peruvian Primera División. The forward went on to win the Liga 1 title with Cristal in 2020, then the Torneo Apertura and Copa Bicentenario in 2021, a season in which he was named Revelation Player of the Year. His resemblance to Kylian Mbappé earned him the nickname "Mbaliza".
In September 2022, Cristal sent him on loan to Portugal's C.S. Marítimo, where he made 15 appearances before returning the following April. His time back at Cristal was short: in November 2023 the two parties agreed to part ways, and he joined Carlos A. Mannucci as a free agent, going on to play 27 matches in 2024. In January 2025 he moved again, signing for FBC Melgar, where he scored four goals in 30 appearances.
Liza earned his first senior call-up for Peru, making his debut on 19 November 2022 in a friendly against Bolivia. He added a second cap against Morocco the following March.
