About the player
Ronny Borja was still a teenager when he made his professional debut for Club Deportivo El Nacional, coming through the club's youth academy before stepping onto the pitch against Cumbayá FC.
He joined Club Sport Emelec on a free transfer, where he signed a three-year contract. His career stalled in April 2025 when he suffered a serious knee injury, tearing his ACL and meniscus and needing surgery. Borja left Emelec in January 2026, pointing to a lack of transparency over his rehabilitation and contract, as well as unpaid salaries.
He joined Leones Fútbol Club, known as Leones del Norte, on a free transfer, signing a one-year deal to the end of 2026.
