About the player
Víctor Cuesta started out at Arsenal de Sarandí, breaking into the first team in 2008 before loan spells at Defensa y Justicia and, later, Huracán, where he won the Copa Argentina in the 2013–14 season. A move to Independiente followed in 2014, and over three seasons he made 73 league appearances and scored six goals for the club.
In 2017 he joined SC Internacional, where he became one of the squad's defensive fixtures, making more than 200 appearances and winning the Bola de Prata in 2018. A loan to Botafogo in 2022–2023 brought a productive run of five goals in 37 games. When his Internacional contract ended, he signed for Bahia in 2024, though his time there was limited to 10 appearances.
Cuesta returned to Argentine football in February 2025 with Newell's Old Boys, where he made 25 appearances and scored twice, before joining Platense on a free transfer.
At international level, Cuesta earned three caps for Argentina between 2016 and 2018. He was part of the squad for the 2016 Copa América Centenario, scoring his first goal for the national side against Bolivia in a 3–0 group-stage win, in a tournament where Argentina finished as runners-up. He was not included in the squads that won the 2021 and 2024 editions of the Copa América.
