Golden Eagles

Twice the Mainz Golden Eagles Ladies reached the Ladiesbowl, the German championship final, and twice the same opponent took it from them: Berlin Kobra Ladies, in 2016 and 2017. The men's side lost its own national final decades earlier, falling to the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns in the 1987 German Bowl while playing in the top-flight German Football League — the highest level the club, the American football branch of TSV Schott Mainz, has reached.

The Ladies did the winning in between those two defeats. Playing as Mainz Lady Warriors, they took the 2. Damenbundesliga title in 2009, then repeated it as the Golden Eagles in 2011 and 2015, building the form that carried them into those Ladiesbowl finals. The team stopped fielding a side after the 2023 season.

The men, meanwhile, have spent the years since 1987 working back down through the regional divisions and now play in the Regionalliga Mitte. Home games are at the Bezirkssportanlage Mainz-Mombach, a 2,500-capacity ground in the Mombach district.

The junior section is the one still adding to the trophy case. In October 2025 the club's Under-14 flag football team won the German championship.
