Permskie Medvedi

Perm's handball club sits in the Superleague this season carrying bronze from 2025–26. The closest it came was back-to-back silver in 2014–15 and 2015–16, and a Russian Cup won in 2013–14, when Permskie Medvedi beat Neva St. Petersburg 28:26 in the final.

The club traces back to a Perm handball side put together in 1993, refounded under its present name six years later. Promotion from the Higher League arrived in 2008–09, and the years since have carried the club into European handball as well, through a EHF Cup qualifying run and a run of SEHA League quarter-finals in 2023–24 and 2024–25.

Olympic gold from Sydney 2000 runs through the club's history in ways that go beyond a line on a roster. Alexander Tukin, one of that team's champions, has led the club as president since 2009; teammate Pavel Sukosyan came back to play for Permskie Medvedi in 2009 at the age of 46. That same year, playmaker Andrey Laznev died in the Khrustalnaya Lob fire while trying to save others inside the building. Valentin Buzmakov , a three-time Russian medallist across his playing years here, now coaches the side.

Perm splits its home fixtures between the Sukharev Sports Complex, holding 2,100, and the smaller DS Krasava out in Kondratovo.
