Superleague (Russia) 2026/27

The Russian Men's Handball Super League stands as the premier tier of the national men's handball structure. Established in 1992 following the dissolution of the USSR, the competition succeeded the Soviet Men's Handball Championship. The Handball Federation of Russia organizes the tournament, which operates under the commercial title OLIMPBET Superliga. The season runs from August or September through to May or June. The current campaign involves twelve clubs, including Chekhovskiye Medvedi, CSKA Moskva, Dinamo Astrahan, Dynamo Sungul, HC Saratov, and Kaustik Volgograd. The format begins with a preliminary round-robin stage where each side plays every opponent twice, home and away. This is followed by a final stage featuring play-offs, comprising quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals, to decide the title. Chekhovskiye Medvedi holds the record for success in the league, claiming the championship 21 times. This tally includes a streak of 18 consecutive titles spanning from the 2001–02 season to the 2021–22 campaign. The current reigning champion is HBC CSKA Moscow, having secured the 2025–26 title. While Russian and Belarusian clubs face suspension from international competitions governed by the EHF and IHF, the domestic league continues its operations independently. The Super League functions as the primary structured competition for determining the national champion, distinct from the knockout format of the Russian Cup.
