About

The OLIMPBET Super League stands as the premier tier for women’s handball within Russia. Established in the 1992–1993 season, it operates under the authority of the Handball Federation of Russia. The competition sits above the Higher League, serving as the definitive national championship for the sport.

The structure relies on a preliminary stage running from September through February. Teams engage in a single round-robin format, ensuring every side faces each opponent once with fixtures distributed across home and away venues. This phase determines the subsequent split of the league. The top eight participants advance to Group A, known as the Championship Playoffs. These teams contest series to two wins for the quarterfinals and semifinals, while the medal matches for first through fourth places require a series of three wins. Meanwhile, the bottom four clubs form Group B, playing a round-robin schedule to decide relegation outcomes.

Relegation involves the twelfth-placed team dropping directly to the Higher League. The tenth and eleventh-place teams enter promotion and relegation playoffs against the second and third-place sides from the second tier. The league currently comprises twelve clubs, including Astrahanochka Women, Chernomorochka Women, Rostov-Don Women, Luch Women, Ivry, and Dinamo-Sinara Volgograd Women. Dinamo Volgograd holds the record for most titles with twelve, while Rostov-Don follows with eight. Rostov-Don claimed the title for the 2025–26 season. The league currently features OLIMPBET as its sponsor, following Parimatch in previous years. Victory in this competition traditionally offers qualification for the EHF Champions League, although Russian clubs remain suspended from European competitions due to sanctions.
