CSKA Moskva Women

The Volleyball Arena "Dynamo" seats 3,500, and CSKA share the building rather than a stadium built around them. It is a modest setting for a team.

The women's section was re-formed in February 2019, and presented publicly on 26 June that year with Danish coach Jan Leslie taking charge of a squad built around Olympic champion Daria Dmitrieva. A bronze medal in the debut Super League season of 2019–20 was the last time CSKA finished a domestic campaign outside first place until the string broke in 2025–26, when Rostov-Don beat them 3-2 in the final.

That result mattered because Rostov-Don has been the only side capable of taking a trophy off CSKA rather than merely contesting one. The two have met in Super Cup finals decided on penalties — 2025–26 went 4-3 after a 34-34 draw — and in a Russian Cup final CSKA won 30-25. Between 2021 and 2025 CSKA collected the league, the cup and the Super Cup in the same season three times, a run that took the club as far as the semi-finals of the EHF Champions League in 2020–21, where Vipers Kristiansand ended it.

Ludmila Bodnieva took over as head coach in 2024, with Varvara Syomina, the 2024–25 season's most valuable player, anchoring the left back position. The club is known in Russian handball simply as the armeyki, the same name attached to CSKA's other sides, and it is a name the club has had to earn twice — once before the hiatus, and again after February 2019.
