Where Universitet has actually won something is in student handball rather than the professional pyramid: the Russian Student Championship in 1990 and again in 2014, plus a runner-up finish at the World Student Championship. Robert Minabutdinov has coached through this stretch, and the club's development work runs through the city's Sports School No. 5, which has fed it young talent such as Natalia Reshetnikova, named Udmurtia's best young player in game sports in 2008 the same year her teammate Elena Aleksandrova, the team's captain, took the equivalent senior honour.

The 2025/26 Super League campaign ended with Universitet bottom of the table on three points from twenty-two games — one win, one draw, twenty defeats — and an early play-off exit to AGU-Adyif Maikop and SK Luch Moscow.
