Prescot Cables

The colours came first, and the club followed: amber and black were taken from British Insulated Callender's Cables. Founded in 1884, Prescot Cables have spent most of the years since outside the Football League.

The honours read as a list of regional titles rather than national ones — the Lancashire Combination, the Cheshire County League, the North West Counties League among them. It sits alongside a run of Liverpool Senior Cup and Liverpool Challenge Cup wins stretching back to the 1920s, proof of a club that has kept turning up locally even when the bigger stages stayed out of reach.

Frank Soo began his career at the club in 1932, before he went on to break new ground as one of English football's first players of East Asian heritage. More recently, Prescot have leaned on the Merseyside academies for talent: Mark Duffy passed through on his way to Southport and Birmingham City, and Carl Baker followed a similar route before spells at Coventry City and Portsmouth.

Bootle provide the derby fixture that matters most, with Skelmersdale United and City of Liverpool making up the rest of a rivalry list rooted entirely in the region. Valerie Park holds 2,070.
