The Auditorio Miguel Barragán seats a modest 3,400, and inside those walls Santos have played under more names than most clubs manage in a century. The franchise that runs the floor today as Santos del Potosí started out in 1969 as Santos de San Luis, and between championship runs it has stopped and restarted as Santos Reales de San Luis and later C.B. Santos San Luis, going quiet for stretches before returning to the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional (LNBP) under yet another version of the same shirt.

The one league title came in 2004, while the team carried the Santos Reales de San Luis name. San Luis Potosí topped the Zona Norte that regular season with 32 wins against eight losses, then beat Halcones UV Xalapa 4–2 in the finals. Before the LNBP existed in its current form, the club had already built a base of silverware in the old Circuito Mexicano de Basquetbol (CIMEBA), winning it three times and finishing runner-up on seven further occasions, most of those losses coming against Correcaminos UAT — a team San Luis Potosí kept meeting in finals through the late 1990s and still faces regularly in Zona Norte play.

Green, gold and white are the club's colours, and the nickname "Los Celestiales" has stuck through every rebrand the franchise has gone through since 1969.

José Portillo carries the 2004 championship in a way few others do: he was the one selected to the Mexican team's All-Star Game that same year, the season San Luis Potosí won its only LNBP crown under coach Luis Manuel López.
