Arènes du Plumaçon
Mont-de-Marsan, France
The Arènes du Plumaçon is a venue for bullfighting activity. The central area is a flat expanse of natural sand, the traditional and current surface for bullfighting.
The structure itself carries a sense of permanence. It was built in 1889 and later expanded, a fact that explains its substantial size compared to smaller venues in the region.
Inside, the atmosphere is defined by the geometry of the space. The seating wraps around the sandy floor in a continuous curve, offering views from every angle. This is one of only seven first-category bullfighting arenas in France, a distinction that keeps it relevant in the annual calendar of events. The city owns the ground, and it serves as the main stage for the Fêtes de la Madeleine.
