Every March, the "Derby du Sud-Ouest" against Tarbes Gespe Bigorre has become the match Mont-de-Marsan circles first, two Landes clubs separated by little more than the road between them fighting for the same regional pride.

The team itself came together in 2003, when local backers pooled the sporting rights of Eyres Fargues Coudures Basket to build a structure strong enough to carry the town into the top flight of French basketball. The NF1 title in 2008 opened the door, and Basket Landes has not looked back since. A first French League title followed in 2021, then Coupe de France wins in 2022 and 2023, with the Match des Champions added in 2023. The championship returned in 2025 and again in 2026, alongside another cup in the same year.

Céline Dumerc's arrival in 2016 raised the level around her before she stepped away from playing in 2023 and stayed on in the club's management, a link between the dressing room that won those titles and the one building the next. Miranda Ayim's number 21 hangs retired, a marker of what she gave the team.

For over a decade Espace François-Mitterrand held the crowds who watched that rise, its 2,500 seats selling out often enough that the club arranged the move to the far larger Arènes du Plumaçon for 2025–26. It is a stadium built for a club that no longer fits the one it grew up in — the same local backing that assembled Eyres Fargues Coudures Basket into a professional side in 2003 now filling a venue more than three times the size.
