LDLC ASVEL Women

Villeurbanne sits inside the Lyon metropolitan area. In 2000 the women's section of Association Sportive de Villeurbanne Éveil Lyonnais (ASVEL) merged with FC Lyon Basket Féminin, a club founded in 1946. The new side was called Lyon Basket Féminin. It was that club's name on the 1960 Coupe de France, the club's oldest trophy.

The turn came in 2017, when Tony Parker, majority owner of the men's ASVEL, bought the women's team. The name changed to Lyon ASVEL Féminin so that both sides would carry one identity. In 2018 the colours changed to black and white, matching the men's team and replacing the green of the parent club. In October 2019 a naming-rights deal with the IT company LDLC produced the current name. The Tony Parker Adéquat Academy is attached to the club, and Dominique Malonga came through it.

In 2019 Les Lionnes won their first Ligue Féminine de Basket (LFB) title and the Match des Champions in the same year. They lost the 2022 league final, then won the title again in 2023 and took the EuroCup Women in the same season. The Coupe de France final was cancelled in 2020, and they reached the final again in 2023. Sandrine Gruda, Alysha Clark and Gabby Williams have all played for the club, as has Marine Johannès of the French national team.

Local rivalry runs through the "Derby Lyonnais" with Charnay-lès-Mâcon. In national competition the main opponents are Villeneuve-d'Ascq and Tango Bourges Basket.

In January 2025 the team left the Gymnase Mado Bonnet, which holds 1,400, for the Palais des Sports de Gerland in Lyon. The Gerland hall seats 3,000 for basketball.
