Les Flammes spent the spring of 2025 doing what the club had failed to do across four previous Coupe de France finals — 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, each one lost — and beat Tango Bourges Basket 70-67 to finally take the trophy. Bourges had been the wall the club kept running into in that competition; in September, Charleville-Mézières added the Match des Champions as well, seeing off Basket Landes 61-52.

The club formalised its current name, Flammes Carolo Basket Ardennes, around 2009, a year before winning the second-tier Ligue 2 title in 2010 and moving into the level of French basketball where it has stayed since. Charleville-Mézières is not a city with a long top-flight pedigree in the women's game, and the club has never won the French championship — semi-finals in 2016 and 2017 mark the ceiling domestically. In Europe it went further than at home, reaching the EuroLeague Women Final Four in both 2018 and 2019.

Salle Bayard, where the team plays, holds 1,500. The Coupe de France run and the rivalry with Tango Bourges Basket sit alongside another fixture treated with real needle in the Ardennes: the "Classico" against Saint-Amand Hainaut.

No one is more identified with the club's rise than Céline Dumerc.
