Avenir Chartres Women

Ana Filip has worn the shirt of C' Chartres Métropole Basket Féminin long enough to see the club climb out of the division it had circled around for years. Chartres began life in 1960 as the women's basketball section of a workers' sports association, and the name changed with the times more than once before it settled, in 2018, on the initials CCMBF, in blue and white.

For most of that history the club sat in French basketball's second tier, Ligue Féminine 2, beaten in the final by La Roche Vendée in 2017, beaten again by Charnay in 2023. Chartres won the league outright and went up to the top division, La Boulangère Wonderligue, for the first time, in 2024.

The rise coincided with a move across town, from the cramped Halle Jean-Cochet to Le Colisée, which holds 4,186 for basketball, though the club is set to return to the old hall for the 2026–2027 season. Local matches against ADA Blois, the derby du Centre-Val de Loire, remain the fixture that needs no further billing.

Filip, a French international, has been part of the squad through both the near-misses and the title, alongside players such as the Swedish international Frida Eldebrink and Awa Sissoko, who came through France's youth ranks. It is Filip's name, more than any other, that Chartres supporters attach to the club's arrival in the top flight.
